Degrees:
B.Sc. (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow 1985)
M.Sc. (Imperial College, London 1986)
Ph.D. (Ohio State University 1997)
Research Interests:
Numerical modeling of the coastal marine environment (wind-waves,
hydrodynamics, sediment transport), with an emphasis on the impacts of
inter-model coupling physics. High performance, parallel computing and
coupling is an additonal aspect of this work.
The analysis of nearshore video data using Particle Image Velocimetry
techniques. This involves tracking water surface textural features (usually
foam from breaking waves) from frame to frame, to deduce surface velocities.
This provides wide data coverage inexpensively. Features of the circulation
field can then be extracted for multiple length and time scales.
