International Polar Year information
The International Polar Year (IPY) is a major science initiative involving thousands of scientists from around the world. Its purpose is to increase understanding about the polar regions of the Earth, which are extremely significant for the Earth's climate as well as for ecosystems and human society. IPY research will take place in both polar regions between March 2007 and March 2009.
The Byrd Polar Research Center will be hosting a Symposium in April with the American Polar Society: US Science and Policy: Celebrating IGY and Planning IPY.
Please check back to this page for further updates and information on how the BPRC is involved with the IPY.
