Group Tours
Due to the scientists' obligations to their research, we can only schedule ONE tour per month and because of the content and technical nature, we feel our tours are much better suited for groups in high school and above. If you have a group of younger participants, please visit our School Visits page for more information and for an opportunity that we feel would better suit your needs.
- Tours for up to 50 people can be arranged according to the interests and backgrounds of our visitors.
- A tour of BPRC allows your group to see the different facilities and to hear directly from some of the scientists who work at the center. They will give you background information on their area of expertise and explain some of the science behind their research.
- Typically, large groups are divided into 2 or 3 smaller groups, and a plan is devised to enable all members of the group to visit each session. We will structure the tour to address your group's needs. The time spent at BPRC is usually two hours or less.
If you are interested in a tour, please fill out a Tour Application form and;
- Email it as an attachment to ; or
- Fax it to 614-292-4697, Attn: Julie Codispoti; or
- Snail mail:
Byrd Polar Research Center

Email or fax is better as tours are booked on a first come, first serve basis.
Groups fewer than 20 people
We are occasionally able to accommodate smaller groups on an individual basis. Normally the scientists themselves will not be able to present, but you will still get a walking tour of the facilities from one of our graduate students who will be able to answer most of your questions. Small group tours are based on the graduate students' available time and there is no guarantee that we will be able to accommodate your group.
