Global Climate Change Summit for Undergraduate Students
Friday, January 26, 2007

On Friday, January 26th, 2007, the Byrd Polar Research Center at The Ohio State University will host a day-long event, sponsored by the Battelle Endowment for Technology and Human Affairs (BETHA) for undergraduate students from any accredited institution of higher learning. This event focuses on the advances and limitations of the technology that enables scientists to study global climate change.

The day will begin at 9:00 AM. with a general session that addresses the history of technology in polar studies. The rest of the morning will consist of a series of short presentations by scientists from the following research groups at the BPRC: Remote Sensing, Sea Level Rise, Ice Core Paleoclimatology, and Polar Meteorology. The morning sessions will conclude by Noon. Those who register for the half-day event will leave after the morning presentations, to accommodate exploration of the OSU main campus and programs of interest.

Undergrads who register for the full-day event will stay for a catered lunch and an afternoon of small-group sessions and tours of the BPRC labs and research facilities. Planned activities will conclude by 3:00 PM.

Presentations from the Global Climate Change Summit for High School Students (Oct. 20, 2006) are available.
