1) Santa Maria --Sampling is done from the platform that is near the replica of the Santa Maria, which is docked in downtown Columbus, just after the confluence with the Scioto River. This measurement offers a comparison of the measurements taken from the Olentangy River.

Nearby, mounted along the wall of the steps descending to the Santa Maria isa plaque describing a historic flood stage that occurred in 1913. (We took a picture of it on Thurs.).

Since then, flood management strategies have been put in place along all the major Ohio rivers, by building and maintaining reservoirs for their recreational, water supply, and flood control services.
